oh ya that will really work well for doing beach parties with friends.

i like the idea of a walk function since characters carry things and stuff. it would not be hard to implament.

I have done a tiny bit of programming but its a simple toggle function only 1 line of coding could probolly do it.

These things don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Only at 50k ms you don't tend to walk slow... You just don't walk at all. And then you warp back and forward too.

Last time I checked, you can't choose your ping except if you disconnect, and it doesn't look natural at all...

The highest ping I even had was 20k. Once in the entire time I've been playing.
The rest of the time It has been always under 1k, and most of the time under 250.
While having a bitTorrent client working in background.

While others could not move during the wintersday gift collection I had no problems dodging Grentchies.

So no. Low ping is not an option. There's no reason to be against this in Outpost. If you don't want to roleplay or use it, don't use it.

It's not something that would take time. It would be like making the cinet send the signal while pressing the key and make the server use a skill without effect icon that makes the character go 50% slower.

And even easier with other ways.

More pointless updates were made.

maybe gw2 will have more advanced moving mechanics that will enable us to switch between walk/run but for now we just run.

Truthfully, the animation and coding for walking is already there.
For every model//mesh in the game. (Or so it would appear. NPCs all walk ect.)

Really it's only the human players who run like spazzes EVERYWHERE.
Like life never stops for the hero man. This could even make for interesting changes in skills for kiting//snaring ect.

And the obvious reason; sometimes I just want to f*cking WALK.

I'm a necromancer, I'm obviously not a physically fit person to begin with.

do I have to do the retarded /emotesoutsideofgame thing or can I just say I'm for this?

I'm just interested; if you had to prioritize this, along w/ all the other suggestions, where would you place it? The problem I have is that people always want want want, but these tweaks are not really as simple as everyone thinks, and there may be other side effects to mucking around w/ 3+ year old code...

only way i can see this as useful if you wanted to follow an npc that walked..like that stone one from abbadon's or if you were making a movie with fraps or w/e

either way i dont mind what happens to it.

Maybe if you were playing "Beach Party: Nightfall" your argument would have some credibility. This game isn't for making movies, if you want that, buy The Movies (great game, by the way). I don't understand why we have to compensate for people who want to do this, there's really no reason. The game is "GUILD WARS" it is for WARRING BETWEEN GUILDS! Play it that way.

Ignorant much?

And good point about the Cynn's dress thing, whoever said it. There is no reason why we should be forced to run everywhere like jackasses.

I may be coming into this conversation late, but here's my take...

To all of those that think walking is stupid... we have dancing, drums, air guitar, a jump animation, flute, beg, cry, clap, wave, laugh, even an animation that makes you look like your trying to get a damn colony of ants off you. All of these animations (and I probably missed one) are all callable through a nice slash-command. Do any of these serve a purpose to the players? Not really. They're there for ambient reasons, and for players to have fun. Guess what... even hard core gamers use these emotes. That being said, what's wrong with a simple walk ability?

Anyway...
